I spent far too much time in 2025 worrying about stuff I have no control over. I think that has to be a project for 2026 - try not to squander so much attention on irrelevancies.

It's been a rough year for David, but in the last couple of weeks much of that seems to have resolved, and we are thinking about things to do in 2026. For one: the gallery we showed at last year has expressed interest in doing something queer for Pride season (which is August here). I very much want it to not be about older cis white men so I'm trying to think how to best do that.

I'm coming around to the idea of doing some hardscaping in the back yard so there won't be another year of everything running riot out there.

There will be more decluttering (I started a new push this week). Which means less time spent on maintenance of Stuff. A couple of weeks ago I bought a marvellous old wooden machinist's chest (the National Tool and Chest Co, doing business as Star Chests Co, 3/2 model listed here as 17" x 12" x 9", oak). It was not in perfect shape but a bit of repair and fussing has brought it right back to usable. Yes I know that sounds like adding to the possessions but: all the crap that used to pile up in drifts around my work station has been tidily organised or pitched out and best of all, I will not have to spend time every few weeks dusting all of it. I can now attempt to empty and rehome the huge heavy metal machinists chest I've been using for art supplies all these years. So that will result in probably 100 lbs of deadweight leaving the building.
