I think I'm going to refrigerate the Aquilegias - one germination in three pots thick with seeds. The Delphiniums are not terribly prolific either but that's ok, it's not like I have room for too many of them. The first iris has bloomed - a standard dwarf bearded of course, Dragon's Den, one of Chuck Chapman's. And the tulips and daffs are all in full bloom. It's a sunny warm beautiful Saturday!

I went for a walk through Strathcona yesterday (also a beautiful day) and realised that somehow I've said goodbye to it. Which is really too soon, the studio is still here. I'm sitting in the studio now, watching the sunlight move across the floor. I love that I know without thinking what time of day and what time of year it is from having watched this for years. This is the sort of thing I miss when I must move. Then at other moments I'm struck by how tatty this place is getting and start thinking I really must. But for whose satisfaction is that?

A (new) friend my age(ish) is reading The Golden Notebook for the first time. I think maybe I'll reread it too.

I read Doris Lessing when I was in my early 20s. Everyone was reading Doris Lessing! 😀 I didn't much like her.

But I'm wondering now whether she isn't one of those authors best read when one is older. I'm willing to give her another shot.

I thought somehow you'd moved last year, and I must have misunderstood. I wish you and Daniel all the best with things.
